Well here they go again. This is another strictly limited release from the Low Life camp for all those hard core fans who missed out on the Task Force promos. Again it is a one sided affair, but this time sports a proper centre label albeit in black and white, I guess the main point of these records is to just get them out there. The one recorded side of the record contains a remix of the Trilogy. The original can be found on Jehst's High Plains Drifter Ep. In this case the beat and production remains the same, but a new set of MCs are added along with all new lyrics. First to step up is Chester P who drops a great verse which is full of similes and metaphors well up to his usual standards. "I spray walls so we can battle for the writers bench / fight against the odds like Daniel in the lions den / you bite my stile, I'll cut your hands off and write with them / don't breath down my neck or I'll stop your flow with nitrogen / you said I'm nice, blood, you'll have to say I'm nice again ....." and he continues in the same blistering vein. There is no chorus and Chester is followed by a newcomer to me - Kyza (Where do Low Life dig up all these dope MCs?) who if anything sounds tighter than Chester on this track and certainly has the flow, rhymes and accent to enable him to hold his head up and not be outshone. I want to hear more from this guy. "When I start rhyming bare braers should start hiding / my dark writing, strikes many like charged lightning / sharp slicing knives cutting and stick right in / its not a wise thing to start no alms fighting / I might fling, hundreds of blows and start wilding / like right wing Nazi marchers who start violence....." and he continues in the same vein many of the lines ending with the same rhyme sound. Then finally Jehst chirps in with his now customary spittage and completes a very strong lyrical performance by all three MCs. If you have heard it, the beat is a down tempo bumper adorned with piano notes and Indonesian percussion and bell sounds. Although it doesn't change up much it stays fresh right to the end. This remix is followed by the instrumental (which is not on the Ep) and makes up a nice promo which, being full on stuff unavailable elsewhere, you really want to try and obtain if you can. Don't hang about cos these things go fast, but if you miss it you can always console yourself with the original mix on the High Plains Drifter Ep. Both Jehst records are available direct from the Low Life Web site via mail order @ £5 a pop, and to be honest I'm not sure if you can get the promo anywhere else.
