Its one of those releases that you pick up just because of who’s on it… MC Mell’o’, Est’elle, Icepick & Grizzly combine to make a kind of super group I guess. Mell’o’ and Icepick are amongst my favourite emcee’s so this release had to be purchased. I’m rather glad I did now, because I’ve played “Timebombed – Remix” loads of times now, relaxed beat allowing Mell’o’ to kick off with some lovely rhymes, you’ve just got to love his styles. Est’elle impresses me as does Grizzly, but Mell’o’ and Icepick come with so much energy it’s quality. The remix is far better than the EPMD beat rehash of the original, which is a bit of a shame, but hey. You also get two other tracks for your money “Bounce To Da Bounce” which is just far to… well bouncy for my liking. May go down well in clubs, but never one to stray from the dance floor, this would have me staying away. Finally you get “Tell Me Wotusayin” which has some odd Bobby Brown affair going on; well strange! It actually works quite well, but its main downfall is its lack of creativity, kind of sounds like its already been made. Still if you like the artists involved the chances are you’ll dig this. I would have definitely expected better from this single, but hopefully they will stay together and make more tunes because there is a spark there.
